About an hour ago, I was so shocked by the drastic drop of my Feedburner subcriber counts. No, not subscriber counts of this blog, but in my forex blog. Last time I saw the subscribers count was about 5 hour before, it showed 177 subscribers. Then 1 hour later, I saw the counts dropped to 7 subscriber.
Well, compared to Darren’s subscribers, 170 is definitely not big numbers. However, it is big enough for me. That’s why I was so shocked when I saw it lost. What happen? Were there some massive unsubscribing by my readers? If yes, why? What make them did it?
Let’s think logically, was it possible for a massive unsubscribing happen in less than 5 hours? I’m not sure that was what happening. I made a simple analysis with my feedburner stats.

Above picture is showing my previous (last 7 days) feedburner stats. You can see the count drop on the bar-graphics. Below is the present stats (I took it 15 minutes ago).

Comparing both pics, You can see that Feedburner Email Subscription is missing. Is it mean that I really have lost my email subscribers? Still not sure either, see the below image which I captured from the Email Subscription Management page.

Look at the subscribers status, they are all active. So, even if it is true there were such a massive unsubscribing, I should still have at least 8 email subscribers. What’s happening then? I’m not sure, but I assume it is only a temporary error with Feedburner email susbcription system (wish this assumption is right, though).
I guess the problem has been happening since yesterday. I saw in my Yahoo email (which is subscribed to this forex feed) there is no email contain with yesterday and today’s posts. I knew count drop problem happened few days ago on Feedburner, it was caused by error in Google Feedfetcher.
Definitely sounds like a normal Feedburner bug/error that crops up now and then.
do you think so, mike? I really hope so
I’d say it’s a glitch that will fix itself tomorrow.
It happens every now and again with Feedburner but always corrects itself.
Don’t lose any sleep over it.
